TAOTS Wins Golden Apple Award
This is the first in an ongoing series featuring TAOTS parents in action. Parents do so much to for the school and make a big difference everyday. Whether volunteering on the PTO, in the school, in the classroom, our parents do so much to enrich the lives of our children.
In June 2012, we learned that TAOTS had won the New York Restoration Project Rose Award for 2012. We received the award for our “TAOTS Children’s Corner Beautification Project” which seeks to create a community garden in Seth Low Park which is located across the street from the school. This project involved coordination and planning between many parents and will continue next year as well.
Phase I was the general clean-up of the space at Seth Low by “Superkids on a Mission” cluster, parent volunteers and school staff in March 2012. Phase II was the clean-up and maintenance of the area and the stenciling of children’s games by the 80 plus student, parent and school staff volunteers who came out for “It’s My Park Day” on May 19,2012. We appreciate all the volunteers who supported these efforts!
Special thanks to Susan Yee, parent and Grant Committee member, for writing and submitting the NYC Department of Sanitation Golden Apple Awards application on behalf of our school.
